Author House

The "Author's House", built in 2021, is located in Palazzo Novati, in the center of Piacenza, a historic city in Emilia Romagna, Italy.

The fifteenth-century building greets visitors with a monumental courtyard of honor. This presents itself with a particular scenographic look that refers to the work of Giovanni Paolo Panini (Piacenza, 1691-Rome 1765) "Convito di Baldassarre".

The current Baroque appearance is due to the intervention of the architect, painter and priest, Giancarlo Novati, to whom the name of the building is owed.

The interiors, with high coffered ceilings, are characterized by the interventions made by the artist and his works. Particularly striking are the Shoga metal panels, used to create slight divisions of spaces, as well as the tables, railings and outdoor chairs, unique pieces specially created for the home and forming the central core of the Beba Design Line, furnishing sculptures.

The lighting, particularly effective thanks to the luminous elements designed by the artist, plunges into a fluctuating and almost liquid atmosphere of teal reflections.

Finally, the meticulously studied details, such as handles, coat hangers, and more help to complete the harmony of the whole.

The house was born from the basic concept of creating harmonious contrasts in the small and large: between the ancient and the contemporary, between the void and the full, between light and shadow: these fundamental characteristics of Zen aesthetics.

The house was featured in the article "Portraits of an Interior: "Franchezza Zen", by Beba Marsano in the January 2022 edition of Leistyle.
